Ethiopian Airlines Orders Eight New Boeing 777X Jets
Ethiopian Airlines announced in a statement that it has decided to buy eight Boeing 777-9 widebody aircraft, with the option to order up to twelve more.
To reduce operating costs and meet the growing demand for international travel, major airlines are racing to place fresh orders for fuel-efficient widebody jets.
Ethiopian Airlines placed the order at a time when Boeing is under more scrutiny following an incident on January 5 in which a door plug blew off a brand-new 737 MAX aircraft mid-flight.
According to the airline, the 777-9 will help it expand and modernize its fleet in terms of size, range, and passenger capacity to serve high-demand markets in North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa.
